Meagan Delima is a 22-year-old musician who is making waves in the Toronto music scene. Known for being more then just a R&B/Soul singer, Meagan is admired for her natural way of performing and songwriting. A few examples of artists who inspire her are Esperanza Spalding, Corinne Bailey Rae and Amy Winehouse. Canadian Beats Reviews said that her music “is the perfect example of what soft, soulful jazz can sound like, in a generation that needs the reminder.”
Meagan’s largest accomplishments thus far have been gaining the largest crowd at the Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival and opening for Juno and Gemini winner, Holly Cole. Participating in Canada’s largest all female showcase Honey Jam, and having the opportunity to fly to Barbados to represent Canadian music. Having the honour of opening for Emilie-Claire Barlow at the Oakville Performing Arts Centre and in the same year releasing her EP “Like You Do.” With a short term goal of an international tour with her 6-piece band along with being signed with an international label, there is no stopping her.
Fresh off the release of their debut full length album “What I Do”, Chelsea and the Cityscape is a six piece pop band formed in Toronto, ON led by saxophonist and composer Chelsea McBride. Chelsea and the Cityscape was started in 2011 as a way for McBride to express the moods she felt moving away to school in a big city as a bright-eyed millennial musician. Since then, Chelsea and the Cityscape has played shows at the Tranzac and the TD Toronto Jazz Festival.
Though Chelsea’s training as a jazz player and composer come through, Cityscape is the brainchild of Chelsea’s wider musical influence from rock, pop and folk music. The genre-spanning influence is heard in distinct compositions that offer complex harmony and accessible melodies. Chelsea and the Cityscape features vocals by Mara Nesrallah, along with Kevin Stolz on keyboards, Paul Barton on guitar, Dan Minchom on bass and Jordan Zagerman on drums.
